Every summer, students in high schools across Colorado can apply for the Frontiers of Science Institute (FSI). During this six week course, students participate in cutting edge research, collegiate courses, fun activities, and lectures. FSI is not just an intense summer course, but also a great boost in social interaction. Every year students take field trips, go camping, and go to movies, ice skating, and so much more.
Founded in 1959, FSI has helped over 1,000 students develop a deepened understanding of scientific discovery, mathematical ability, and technology. Topics range from microbiology to engineering to chemistry and physics. Approximately 30 students are chosen to have this experience each summer at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) . These scholars live, eat, and learn within the collegiate environment.
Whatever a students passion is, FSI can be an amazing resource for a deeper understanding in you search for academic understanding. As a 2014 participant in the program, I truly do believe that FSI will benefit the future of scholars.
